Andrew Black and Dean Jones are also well known as Things That Aren’t There, they’re a duo from Glasgow, UK, and his style combines elements of post-rock, shoegaze, synthwave and dream pop.
They released his debut 3 Song-EP “Slow Down“ on March 2018 and actually, they’re working on new material to be released late this year.
“Slow Down” show to us the EP’s mysterious and darkling side, a huge vague atmosphere created by synths, an electronic, catchy synthetizer which is followed by smoothly guitar lines on the background, pretty nice song; then we have “Neon Cross”, a song more similar to the electronic music on the 80’s, an atmosphere is created on the back of the song while crushing guitar riffs open their way to develop such a beautiful performance.
“Two” reminds me of NIN, that electronic bites at the beginning are so familiar but this has its own touch, a darker atmosphere mixed with electronic elements, slightly guitar notes which then turn into an overwhelming guitar sound.
My friends on Things That Aren’t There had a pretty solid debut, I’m waiting for them to release a new record
